The Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Colosseum, Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain are all essential parts of your trip. I would suggest trying to lace them together early one morning.

If you felt like a stroll (passeggiata) in the evening you could walk to the Trevi fountain. It’s spectacular, but especially at night when it’s illuminated.

Visit the Pantheon, with its famous dome and oculus. Opens at 9:00 am. Admission is 2 Euros/pp. Get there early to beat the crowds. The Pantheon is a consecrated church, we recommend following the dress code and covering shoulders and knees. Behind the Pantheon look for a sculpture of an elephant in the Piazza della Minerva. Next, head west to Rome’s most famous piazza, Piazza Navona. This lively square was once a racetrack and could accommodate 30,000 spectators. Enjoy the fountains, live music, buskers, and people watching.

Villa Borghese Gardens– This is Rome’s version of Central Park. Plenty of space to run around, ice cream, you can rent 4 wheeled bikes and bike around the park. There is a lake, a zoo and several museums.

Explore the Trastevere neighborhood. This colorful bohemian neighborhood on the other side of the Tiber River is full of narrow winding cobblestone streets, great restaurants, and fun shops. It has a very authentic Roman feel. If you’re feeling up to walking, go on foot over the Ponte Sisto Bridge.

There is a small playground nearby at Piazza San Cosimato.

Visit the beautiful Santa Maria in Trastevere Basilica.

Victor Emmanuel Monument – Ride the Sky elevator to the top for 360-degree views of the city.
