Spain is the 4th largest country by area on the European continent and is home to 47 million people. Madrid is the capital and along with Barcelona are two of the most visited cities in Spain. It is 75% the size of Texas in the States but almost double the population.
Why is Spain a great destination for families with kids?
The Spaniards are a very welcoming nation. Children are regularly included in all family activities and the Spanish culture places huge emphasis on family. This welcoming culture makes Spain a great place to vacation as a family.
One should travel to Spain to enjoy its sunny Mediterranean climate and to appreciate its many national and natural treasures. This family-friendly hotspot is home to 17 diverse regions each offering its own traditions, food, art and local etiquette. Discover the Catalan culture in Barcelona; the Pintxos (tapas) in the Basque region and the Moorish architecture in the South.
Spain is famous for the siesta, paella, gazpacho, tortilla, churros, Gaudi, Picasso and La Sagrada Familia.

How long would you vacation in Spain?
As with other destinations, where we work on the 3 to 4 location preference, we would think that 10 to 14 days would be a good amount of time to spend on your first visit. But Spain is so vast and there is so much to see that you definitely need a second and third visit.
Your first vacation should include Barcelona and the Costa Brava or Costa del Sol. A second visit would explore the interior more and would incorporate San Sebastian, Bilboa and Pamplona; or Valencia and Seville with a quick stop off in Madrid. A third trip would be to Mallorca or the Canary Islands.
