Should I plan to travel during Covid-19?

Covid travel

Yes, we may have some restrictions on us depending on where we live in the world but that should not stop us from hoping to travel, dreaming of travelling or planning travel.

As a travel advisor we plan travel all around the world, COVID-19 has us in such a sticky situation because depending on who we talk to in the world no matter what their location travelling right now is a very personal decision.

Having spoken to many clients there is currently two schools of thought – ‘I am travelling in 2021, whether that is a staycation or abroad’:  or ‘No, I am not travelling now but I am certainly planning my vacation for 2022’.

Planning to travel in 2021

If you are planning to travel in 2021 (close to home or further away) – consider this:

  1. Know before you go – do your research, what is the Covid situation what are the restrictions?
  2. Book now – when travel opens up again, availability will be at a premium, book now and take advantage of the many special offers, flights, package tours, discounts
  3. Use a travel advisor to help plan the perfect itinerary
  4. Flexible and postponement policies, ensure you understand and check the cancellation and refund terms
  5. Protect your investment – ensure you have the right insurance policy in place
  6. Check regulations and health requirements for your destination
  7. Book now – pay later
  8. Be flexible and have a back-up plan if needed – postpone or changing your destination
  9. Get a Covid test before you travel, wear a mask, maintain social distancing, wash your hands and use hand sanitiser
  10. Keep dreaming

Planning to travel in 2022

If you are planning to travel in 2022 (staycation or abroad) – consider this:

  1. Planning now gives you something to look forward to
  2. Dream big – go for that bucket list destination
  3. Use a travel advisor to help plan the prefect itinerary
  4. Secure the best accommodations
  5. Take time to curate the perfect itinerary
  6. Plan WOW moments
  7. Protect your investment – take out Cancel For Any Reason travel insurance
  8. Plan in 2021 and take advantage of the many special offers, flights, package tours, discounts
  9. Book now and pay later
  10. Keep dreaming and planning

So where does that leave us?

Covid should not stop us from dreaming of and planning to travel. Those who couldn’t travel last year (most of us!) postponed their trip to this summer. A high percentage of travellers are still cautious of travel and are now postponing their trip further to 2022. It is predicted that things should be back to ‘normal’ next year so now we have all the world and his dog looking to travel in 2022 plus all those who postponed or moved their 2020 and 2021 trips; and with a lot of hotels having gone out of business lack of availability is going to be an issue the later you leave it. So lets get ‘bums in beds’ and get booking your accommodation people!
